Five Players Of Nigerian Descent On Duty In England U19s Loss To Mexico
Published: June 07, 2016All five players of Nigerian descent that traveled to Mexico were in action on Monday evening as the England Under-19s suffered a 1-0 loss to the North Americans at Centro de Alti Rendimiento.
The Real Betis-linked striker Dominic Solanke, Chelsea Young Player Of The Year Fikayo Tomori, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Joshua Onomah made Aidy Boothroyd’s starting line-up.
On 60 minutes, Onomah was replaced, the same time Ademola Lookman was introduced and Liverpool starlet Sheyi Ojo replaced Solanke, while Tomori played for 80 minutes.
The game was heading for a draw until a late header sealed a 1-0 win for the Mexicans.
The Young Lions will head off to Germany next month for the 2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, and will lock horns with France, Netherlands and Croatia in Group B.
