Nigerian Talents To Return To Liverpool For Further Assessment
Published: May 29, 2016English Premier League side Liverpool have invited promising Nigerian teenagers Jacob Njoku, Chidera Ejike, Charles Ezeh and Suleiman Muhammad for further trials with a view to offering them contracts.
The Gee Lec Football Academy youngsters and ex-Porto youth-teamer Njoku trained with the youth team of the Anfield side earlier this month but a decision on whether the quartet will wear the jersey of The Reds has been delayed.
“Liverpool said they are going to invite them again in future to play for the youth team in competitions and matches before taking a decision, ” the players’ intermediary Babawo Mohammed told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“No date has been fixed for their next trip. They said they will get back to us because they don’t want the players to travel to England during the winter.”
Five players with Nigerian roots Sheyi Ojo, Jordon Ibe, Tiago Ilori, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ovie Ejaria are presently on the books of Liverpool and that number would increase in future if the teenagers from Jos are offered deals.
