Two Players Of Nigerian Descent Named In England Provisional Squad For Euro 2016
Published: May 16, 2016Two players of Nigerian descent, Dele Alli and Ross Barkley, have been named in England’s provisional squad for the upcoming 2016 European Championship.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and Everton star are part of Roy Hodgson’s 26-man squad for friendlies before the start of the tournament in France.
Alli, 20, made his debut for the Three Lions against Estonia in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier in October 2015, replacing Barkley in the closing minutes, and has earned six caps to date.
On the other hand, Ross Barkley, 22, has won 21 England caps after opting to represent the Three Lions ahead of the Super Eagles, and featured at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
England tackle Turkey, Australia and Portugal in friendly games before the start of the tournament in France.
