Heartbreak For Emmanuel Adebowale As Sheffield United Lose On Penalties In Play-Off Final
Published: May 10, 2016Charlton Athletic U18s won the Professional Development League 2 on Monday night after beating Sheffield United 4-3 on penalties at the Valley.
With the Blades leading 1-0, defender Emmanuel Adebowale was thrown into the fray in the 76th minute but he could not prevent Ahearne-Grant from equalizing two minutes before the end of regulation time.
The Addicks would have gone ahead in the second period of extra time when Adebowale hit a clearance into the side-netting after an overlapping run from Alfie Doughty.
Sheffield United lost two of their spot kicks while all the other penalties were converted, and the Stratford-born center half did not take part in the shootout.
Adebowale was with West Ham United before signing a scholarship deal with Sheffield United in May 2014.
