American-Born DC United Striker Raheem Lawal Will Not Reject Nigeria Call Up
Published: May 03, 2016Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that DC United striker Raheem Lawal will not turn down the chance to represent one of the youth teams of Nigeria even though he is eligible to play for the United States.
The offensive talent was born in Washington DC 17 years ago to a Nigerian dad and an American mom and is torn between choosing the national team to turn out for as both parents would want him to play for their respective country.
Raheem Lawal’s qualities as a striker include awareness around the goal, goal-scoring ability, pace and strength, and he models his offensive play after the current African Footballer of the Year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Everton star Lukaku.
The Nigeria Football Federation has not made any contact whatsoever with Raheem Lawal though he has briefly spoken to some Nigerian scouts.
The teenager joined the academy team of DC United in 2012 and will be hoping to break into their first team in the near future.
