Onyekachi Okafor Absconds From Rivers United
Published: March 30, 2016
The management of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Rivers United has announced that striker, Onyekachi Okafor has absconded from the camp of the team.
Okafor was duly registered to play for United this season having arrived from another NPFL side, Warri Wolves at the end of last season.
Speaking to Rivers United media, secretary of the club, Ahmed Abdulrahman expressed regret at the action of Okafor.
“Okafor was registered to play for Rivers United this season during the first transfer window.
“We were therefore shocked to learn that he (Okafor) went absent without official leave (AWOL) and all efforts to trace his whereabouts have proved abortive.
“This is certainly worrisome especially at this stage (of the season) when we are fighting on several fronts to make Rivers United the foremost football club in Nigeria,” Abdulrahman said.
Rivers United currently sit in seventh place on the NPFL standings with 13 points from nine matches.
