Chibuzor Okonkwo, Oak Zeel Trade Words Over Illegal Transfer To Gabros (Ifeanyi Ubah FC)
Published: March 11, 2015Chibuzor Okonkwo has told Chief Valentine Omeje, the CEO of grassroots club Oak Zeel, to go to blazes, and has insisted that his transfer to Gabros FC, Nnewi followed procedural due process.
Local media reports had earlier suggested that the Nigeria international joined the Nnewi side without the consent of Oak Zeel, who own his economic and registration rights.
But Okonkwo is now playing the card of unfulfilled financial obligations, saying he has the right to terminate his contract with just cause because Oak Zeel owe him backlog of wages, exceeding three months.
“Oak Zeel is a club registered under who? Can an independent person own a player? ”says Chibuzor Okonkwo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“If he wants to go to Fifa, let us go there. He talks too much, why won’t I play Gabros’s next game?
“I spent six - seven months without a club, Oak Zeel did not pay me any salary, so I have the right to walk away from the contract.”
Allnigeriasoccer.com contacted Chief Valentine Omeje to react to the recent statements of Chibuzor Okonwko.
“Chibuzor is a stark illiterate and controlled by external forces. if you read the contract we signed, it has no salary, salary issue does not exist. What we agreed is that I must get him a club locally or internationally.
“I took him as my younger brother but he is playing with his career. If I am an individual, how was a TMS account created for me?
“My club is not registered ? That shows he is a criminal. Then why did he collect =N=5 million from me, and gave me a photocopy of his international passport. He wasn’t forced to sign the contract,” said Chief Omeje.
Furthermore, Valentine Omeje has pointed out that he exploited every avenue to get a new club for Chibuzor Okonkwo before his illegal transfer to Gabros.
“Chibuzor Okonkwo refused to join a Nigerian Premier League club when he returned from Libya. He said he is too big to play for a Nigerian club.
“In December, I gave him =N=50,000 to process his visa application . He was supposed to train with a Polish club but was not granted a visa,” Chief Valentine Omeje concluded.
Chibuzor Okonkwo has signed a one - year contract with Gabros, which may be extended at the end of the season, according to the player.
