Ejike Fires Supreme Court FC To Vital Victory
Published: March 30, 2014Striker Ejike Orji was the hero for Supreme Court FC in one of the Nigeria National League (NNL) matches decided at Old Parade Ground, Abuja as his lone strike in the 58 minute of the game ensured that the home team pipped Mighty Jets of Jos 1-0.
Ejike broke the deadlock in the second half of the encounter after series of opportunities from both sides were left unconverted.
The match which began exactly 4pm on Sunday witnessed some changes in the starting line-up from Coach Haggai tutored-home side in bid to beef up its attacking options.
Captain Maha Musa and right-footed attacker Endurance Osaghai popularly known as Bongo were rested while Peter Maraibo and Adams Abdullahi started in the absence of creative striker Jude Chibuike who was sidelined due to injury.
Speaking shortly after the encounter which was characterized by controversial referee’s repeated decisions throughout the 90 minutes of the tricky tie.
Coach Haggai who expressed satisfaction with the level of his team’s performance however frowned at the behavior of Referee Marwan Bala who painstakingly removed his eyes from several infringements committed by the visiting team on his players.
“Personally, I don’t use to complain of referees behavior but what I witnessed today which everybody including spectators repeatedly pointed at was very clear that the officiating referees came on a mission.
“But thank God that my boys waved off all of that and continued fighting till they were able to get the lone goal.”
