Papa Idris Prays For Eagles Victory Against Zimbabwe
Published: January 31, 2014New Gombe United recruit Papa Idris has commented on the upcoming fixture between Nigeria and Zimbabwe, the third place play - off in the ongoing African Nations Championship which comes to a conclusion on Saturday.
“First, I want to pray for them to win the third place match against Zimbabwe.
“They should also put behind them the defeat against Ghana and concentrate on tomorrow’s game.
“For me as a defender, all the players have impressed me and no defender should be blamed for any of the eight goals conceded.
“They all did their best at that moment, ” Papa idris said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Released by Kilmarnock this past summer market, the central defender recently put pen to paper to a one - season deal with Gombe United, reuniting with his former master, Maurice Cooreman, who previously guided him at Kaduna United.
“ With due respect to the other teams that wanted to sign me, my decision to join Gombe United should be respected.
“My mind was already made up and I love the atmosphere here,” stressed Idris.
The 24 - year - old stopper made the provisional Nations Cup roster but was axed from the final 23 - man squad that won gold in South Africa.
