John Ogu Not Summoned For Gil Vicente Clash
Published: January 18, 2014Nigeria international John Ogu has failed a late fitness test and has not been summoned by manager Sérgio Conceição for the visit of Gil Vicente on Sunday, Academica’s 16th fixture in the Primeira Liga this season.
The central midfielder could not complete training on Wednesday afternoon after he picked up a knock.
And though he now claims to be in good physical condition, Sérgio Conceição has taken precautions by omitting him from the 20 - man roster announced on Saturday.
“Yes I had a knock on my ankle two days ago but I am back training with the first team,” Ogu told allnigeriasoccer.com hours before the squad was announced.
Ogu will not add to the six appearances he has made this season in the championship.
