Oyo Commissioner Parleys Ojo-Oba Over 3SC
Published: December 11, 2013
Former scribe of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Bolaji Ojo-Oba has vowed to join hand with the newly appointed Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Farouq Umar Alao to reposition the Ibadan darling team, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) that relegated from the Nigeria Football Premier League (NPFL) at the end of the just concluded soccer season.
Ojo-Oba, who is now the head of International Competition Department of National Sports Commission (NSC) assured the Commissioner that paid a courtesy visits to his office in Abuja when the latter arrived at the Federal Capital Territory to cheer Oyo contingents that are participating in the on-going Youths Sports Festival.
Ojo-Oba expressed his displeasure of the present plight of Shooting Stars that has been a shadow of its old beautiful self in the years back, saying he is ready to assist the Commissioner in whatever way he might deem it fit to lift 3SC back to the top.
“I’m sure that nobody that hails from the South/west geo-political side of the country is not happy with the present state of Shooting Stars, but I believe that revival of the club, depends largely on efforts of all and sundry.
“With support, the team that first won a continental laurel for Nigeria can be glorious again”, he noted.
The former Oyo Commissioner also urged Alao to encourage the governor in hosting major sporting activities in the state, stressing that benefits that attached to hosting sports vent are too enormous for government and the people.
He added that it is long that Oyo State hosted any major sporting event , urging the new Commissioner to cultivate his government to bid for hosting right as Oyo State has enough facilities and resources to accomplish this.
