Azubuike Egwuekwe Reckons Ethiopia Game Will Be Difficult
Published: October 08, 2013Ahead of the eagerly anticipated World Cup cracker against Ethiopia this weekend, Warri Wolves skipper Azubuike Egwuekwe reckons that the East Africans will be tough opponents.
Nonetheless, the central defender believes Nigeria has the class to overcome the Antelopes.
“In today’s football, there are no more big teams. The Ethiopians have a very good side.
“At the 2013 AFCON, it took us 80 minutes before we scored our first goal against them.
“Even though we won 2-0, it was not an easy match for us,”Azubuike Egwuekwe told the electronic edition of Punch.
He continued: “I am focused just like every other player and I believe we can make it.
“Some of us are aiming to play our first World Cup and we will do everything to qualify.”
The Super Eagles will enter the game in Addis Ababa with a 4 - 2 - 1 record against their hosts, with their only loss coming in a Nations Cup qualifier about two decades ago.
