Babayaro Disassociates Self From Punch Reports
Published: April 24, 2013Chairman of Kaduna United and vice Chairman of the League Management Commitee ( LMC), Hon. Sabo Babayaro has dissociated himself from a report carried by The Punch newspaper dated 24th of April 2013 where he was quoted as saying :
''The LMC has good intentions and we started on the right lane but along the line we veered off the mark.
''The LMC derailed because decisions were taken without due consultation or meetings of the committee. I support the club
managers because we are the owners of the league ''
Babayaro said :'' I will like to make it clear that I never at anytime spoke with anybody from Punch Newspaper and since I assumed my role as the vice chairman of the LMC, I have not conducted an interview on the LMC and it”s mode of operations.
''As a matter of fact the name Pius Anyior is alien to me because I have never met him or heard his name before not until that evening before the meeting when he was having some quarrel with the vice chairman of Warri Wolves, Alex and Mike Idoko on allegations that I stopped the LMC from signing a sponsorship deal with Harp Lager Beer, right there I asked them to ask him if he knows me(Babayaro) the man he quoted, I left them, signed the attendance register and went into the
meeting room with Mike Idoko.
''Regarding the press briefing by club owners I was out of town when it was conducted as I left Abuja around 6am to catch up with a meeting slated for 8:30am in Kaduna.
''I don’t know who spoke on my behalf to the press and where he got the quotes attributed to me, lodged at a separate hotel
from other club owners and during the course of the meeting I faulted the divisions where some groups were holding sub meetings while the meeting was ongoing.
''Evenwhen the club owners threatened to abandon the league, I made it clear that I and my team(Kaduna United) will honor each and every of our fixtures home and away and we will walk-over teams who fail to turn up.
''I attended the meeting of the club owners on the grounds of allegations and reports that I signed on behalf of the club owners on the LMC board, and at the meeting I made it clear that I signed on the registration of the LMC board with the CAC in my capacity as the vice chairman of the LMC with no shares attached.
''I will also like to say here that if Pius Anyior refuses to write a report apologizing to me for quoting me without speaking with me, I will be forced to take legal actions against him for soiling my 35 year hard earned reputation in sports in Nigeria.''
