Doubts About Ages Of Nigerian Players, Danish Embassy Rejects Work Permit Application
Published: April 18, 2013Last winter, Danish club NB Bornholm through a British agent had been offered four Nigerian players free of charge.
The second division team was to act as springboard for the players, but the attractive deal for NB will have to wait a little longer.
Immigration has dismissed the application for a visa and work permit for the four players, as one person's passport has got alarm bells ringing with the Danish authorities.
''I sit with the letter from the foreign office, and we have a little problem with one of the players. According to his passport he is 23 years old, but the Danish embassy in Nigeria think he looks 30-35, '' says sports director Mikkel Skot Hansen to bold.dk.
''We have therefore refused at first, until they have examined it more closely. There are doubts about the authenticity of the passport and refusal applies to all four players, as it is a single application, '' he says.
NB Bornholm, who are bottom of the table in the second Division East, may actually not write contracts with players, but Nigerians can be linked via a certificate from the Danish Federation.
