Modest Enyeama Plays Down Heroics Against Bnei Yehuda
Published: April 15, 2013Vincent Enyeama is unarguably one of the best goalkeepers in the Israeli championship. Against Bnei Yehuda on Saturday, he proved his worth by making three point-blank saves to deny The Lions victory.
In Enyeama's post match comments, he remained modest and attributed the drawn match to the collective effort of the team.
''I had my work to do and I'm glad I succeeded in doing it. But don't forget that someone else scored the brace, others made the accurate passes that helped create those goals, still others defended with all their hearts.
''The deficit came early and with 70 minutes still on the clock I knew we could get back into it,'' Enyeama told the official website of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Maccabi Tel Aviv would be crowned champions this week if they defeat Ironi Ramat Hasharon and nearest challengers for the title Maccabi Haifa fail to win against Ironi Kiryat Shmona.
''I'm not thinking about championship celebrations quite yet, we still have games to play, we respect every rival and we'll have to wait and see what happens,'' he stressed.
The experienced goalkeeper is under contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv until the end of the 2012 - 2013 season.
