99 percent false: Liverpool coach responds to transfer rumours amid links with Lookman, Osimhen
Published: January 10, 2025Liverpool coach Arne Slot has stated that majority of transfer stories are false amid speculation linking the Premier League table toppers with Nigerian stars Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of his side's Emirates FA Cup clash against Accrington Stanley, Slot responded to the transfer gossip currently making the rounds about the club and emphasized the unreliability of such reports during the transfer window.
"It's January and I think I said it after the West Ham game, don't disappoint me," Slot stated, as reported by The BBC.
"Please come up with all these clubs and players that are of interest from us or that aren't playing a lot for us going somewhere else."
Recent reports have linked Liverpool to a potential move for Lookman, currently excelling at Atalanta, and Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.
However, Slot appeared to dismiss these claims as speculative, highlighting the frequency of unfounded rumours during the January transfer window.
"That's what's happening now - 99 out of 100 times in the window it's been clear that almost all of these stories weren't true," he said.
Slot's comments suggest that Liverpool are unlikely to make significant moves for either player this month.
Instead, the coach implied that much of the current speculation is typical of the transfer period.
"So what can I comment about it? That's the rumours, keep going for it. But no comments from my side," he concluded.
The January transfer window often generates intense media speculation, with clubs and players frequently linked to potential deals.
