Exclusive:John Ogu Set To Defy Club's Order To Undergo Surgery
Published: April 11, 2013One - cap Nigeria international John Ogu has embarked on an aggressive media campaign using his cronies in the Press to sway public opinion that he is not injured.
Allnigeriasoccer.com CAN exclusively report that John Ogu has sprained his left knee and has been advised by doctors of Académica to undergo surgery to repair the damage.
But the 24 - year - old central midfielder is set to DEFY the club's order, and perhaps put his career at risk in order to play at the Fifa Confederations Cup this summer.
After Bayern Munich lost Dutch international Arjen Robben for six months on his return from the 2010 World Cup, football's regulator Fifa started insuring players whilst they are representing their countries at major tournaments.
It remains unclear if John Ogu and Académica would be entitled to compensation should the player get injured in Brazil.
After all, in theory, he was crocked before the start of the tournament.
Note that John Ogu has NOT participated in the last three training sessions held by Académica.
He has 18 Primeira Liga games (10 starts) under his belt in the current campaign.
