CAF To Decide Heartland's Fate
Published: April 07, 2013Heartland of Owerri could not play the CAF Confederation Cup tie against hosts Union Sportive Bitam (USB) after the club arrived Gabon on Saturday, the day of the match.
The Nigerians had sent a message to the Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) requesting the postponement of the match to Sunday.
But the communication got to FEGAFOOT around 3 pm when the referees and match officials were already at the stadium, Secretary General of US Bitam claimed to local radio station Ogooué FM .
Continental football governing body, CAF will now decide Heartland's fate - if the game is to be rescheduled for another date possibly on Sunday or award a 3 - 0 walkover to US Bitam.
Heartland, who narrowly won the first leg tie 2 - 1, had traveled to Gabon with 13 players due to a travel hitch.
