Fifa Approves Nigeria Federation's Request
Published: April 04, 2013Football's governing body, Fifa has approved the request by the Nigeria Federation for the fourth and fifth round World Cup qualifying fixtures involving Nigeria, Malawi, Namibia and Kenya to be played simultaneously.
Consequently, the Super Eagles will now face Kenya on June 5th, the same date nearest challengers Malawi lock horns with Namibia.
In addition, the fifth round Group F clash between Nigeria and Namibia will take place the same date (June 12th) and time Malawi tackle Kenya.
Before the formal request of the Nigeria Federation, there were fears that Malawi, level on points with Nigeria, will have undue advantage since they were due to confront their opponents at a later date.
The Super Eagles, who are African champions, are representing the continent in the Fifa Confederations Cup, which is to be hosted by Brazil from June 15 - 30.
