Published: March 11, 2013
As the 2012/2013 soccer season gets underway the Ibadan darling team 3SC has received a media boost from the Nigeria Union of Journalists Oyo State Chapter when Chairman of the chapter, Comrade Gbenga Opadotun who was among the fans that watched 3SC, Gombe United match pledged the union’s backing to team.
Speaking after the week one fixture that saw the home team (3SC) defeating their visitors by two un-replied goals from Edjomariege Tony and Osagona Oghodalo to claim the first victory, the number one journalist in Oyo State bemoaned lack of continental action that had been eluding Ibadan soccer fans for more than a decade.
While pledging the support of all media practitioners in the state to Oluyole Warlords in making their campaign this season a successful one, so that all the missing fans can be back to the stand and enjoy continental soccer actions.
''Shooting Stars is our heritage, not only to people of Oyo State, but all the Yoruba speaking states, and if we don’t come together and give the team our collective support we might not get our desired results we want from our club.
''Kudos must be giving to the present administration in the state for the support it has shown to the team so far, infact it has never been this good. I think what is required now is for all and sundry to do their bit, so that the team would regain its lost glory,'' Opadotun said.
