Oyo Bankers Cup: Boamah Rues Final Loss
Published: March 08, 2013Ayodele Boamah the second son of the former Shooting Stars Ghanaian player and Coach, Philip Boamah who captained Guaranty Trust Bank to win Silver at the recently concluded Oyo State Bankers' Invitational Soccer Tourney has commended the fighting spirit displayed by members of his team in the final match where they lost on penalty to Skye Bank.
Boamah who attributed their loss to ill-luck said his team came into the game with determination to win and lift the cup as all the game plan mapped out by their Coach was well interpreted by all the players but penalty shootout that earned them a final berth against UBA in their semi-final match was not favorable to them in the final.
He however, congratulated the Skye Warriors for winning the cup back-to-back but warned them to prepare for a stiffer challenge when the 2013 edition gets underway.
"Although the loss was quite painful but we still give thanks to God who saw us through to this level,. We are absent at the last edition which had given us room to prepare well for this edition.
''GTB management is proud of us and we are going to put more effort next time and not allow the cup to slip off again", Boamah noted.
Speaking with newsmen after the game, General Manager Southwest of Skye Bank, Ayodele Abina described the victory as heart warming and a case of hard preparation on the part of his boys to lift the trophy again.
"Skye Bank victory again today is not all surprising from the fact that the boys were highly motivated and were determined to lift the cup again.
"When the competition began, I told the boys that what we are about doing is 'Operation Back to Back' and that came to past.
''The managing Director of the Bank is fully aware of this victory and I promise you the boys will be highly rewarded for this victory," Abina said.
