Bright Dike Takes Nations Cup Omission In Good Faith
Published: January 10, 2013Portland Timbers frontman Bright Dike was omitted from the Super Eagles squad which travels to South Africa on January 16th for the African Cup of Nations.
In only his second appearance for the Nigeria selection last week against the Catalonia National Team, the 25- year- old netted his first international goal.
Dike has taken his omission from the Nigeria squad in good faith and has now set his sight on the World Cup qualifiers which resumes a month after the tournament in South Africa.
''Disappointed not to make the squad. Thanks for the opportunity and the new memories. A great experience that will make me a better player,'' he said on Twitter.
Seven strikers - Ahmed Musa, Sunday Mba, Ejike Uzoenyi, Emmanuel Emenike, Ikechukwu Uche, Victor Moses and Brown Ideye - were picked ahead of Bright Dike.
Speculation had been rife that Dynamo Kiev attacker Brown Ideye would be overlooked by coach Stephen Keshi in favor of Bright Dike.
