Lionel Messi Wins Fourth Fifa Ballon d'Or

Barcelona striker Lionel Messi on Monday evening made history as the first player to win the Fifa Ballon d'Or four times on the bounce.
Today there were three finalists for the award - Messi , Ronaldo and Iniesta. With 41.60% of the votes, Lionel Messi was assigned nearly twice the votes given to Ronaldo, his main rival for the award. The Portugal and Real Madrid super-star collected 23.68%, while Andres Iniesta was contented with 10.91% of votes.
In 2012, the 25 - year - old Argentina international broke Gerd Muller's record , becoming the first player to score more than 85 goals in a calendar year for club and country.
Messi finished the 2011-2012 season with 50 goals in La Liga (a record) and was the top scorer in the Champions League with 14 goals.
