Oyo Bankers Cup: OGUNJOBI Lauds Bankers, As Skye Bank Launches Operation Back - To - Back
Published: December 16, 2012The former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi has commended members of the staff of financial institutions in Oyo State who out of their cumbersome schedule still had time to participate in the on-going Bankers invitational football Tournament in Ibadan.
Ogunjobi, who declared open the annual soccer tourney at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex Ibadan, said he was dazed by the high soccer standard displayed by bankers in the opening match where Skye Warriors sent warning signals to other participating banks with an emphatic 5-0 bashing of their arch rivals, UBA.
The match was watched by top personalities in banking sectors in Oyo State and members of Oyo State Football Association with scores of Skye fans led by Yetunde Okeleye, Regional Manager Ibadan 2 and Bukola Ogidan, Head Public Sector SW and Deji Shobanke who came from Lagos, among other staff members who came with their families and friends.
Technical Adviser of Skye Bank, Saliu Idris while speaking with newsmen after the tourney reiterated his team’s commitment to repeating the fit they recorded last year by winning the Cup back-to-back, saying the management of the bank is solidly behind the team and only way of reciprocating their good gesture is to win the trophy again for the bank.
“This emphatic win is a signal that we are set to win the Cup again. What we are out for this year is Operation Back-to-back, Skye management has shown commitment towards this team by rewarding every member of the team that won this competition last year financially”, said the Skye Bank Coach.
Meanwhile the organizers of the event have promised mouth watering prizes and several gift items for all participating players during the course of the championship, as the best player that is picked in every match will go home with a worthy gift,. Also, individual awards like most valuable player, best goalkeeper, best supported teams, would be awarded at the end of the tourney.
