ODEMWINGIE Restates Commitment To Super Eagles
Published: November 05, 2012West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie has poured cold water on media reports that he has quit the National team, nicknamed the Super Eagles.
This past weekend, Nigeria helmsman Stephen Keshi was quoted as saying by local media that Odemwingie no longer wanted to play for Nigeria. But the former Lille man has cleared the air on his international future in an interview with UK media.
Odemwingie told the online edition of Express and Star, expressandstar.com: ''If the coach decides to call me, I am still available to play for my country. When I decide that I want to stop playing, I will come out and say so myself.''
He added: ''I am 31 now, it will be hard to play every game, but I had an open and honest discussion with the coach and I will be available when they call me."
Should Stephen Keshi include Odemwingie in his 23 - man squad to South Africa and Nigeria qualifies for the last four of Africa's premier soccer competition, the striker will miss at least five Premiership games against Reading, Aston Villa, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
