EJIKE UZOENYI Might Be Unavailable For Eagles Build-Up Against Liberia
Published: September 15, 2012
There is a possibility that Enugu Rangers flying winger Ejike Uzoenyi will be unavailable to coach Stephen Keshi for the buildup to the Eagles second round African Cup qualifier against the Lone Stars of Liberia in four weeks time.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed by a top source in France that Uzoenyi is scheduled to undergo trials with a Ligue 1 club in the next 15 days. By then the Super Eagles camp in Abuja would have come alive with the assemblage of home based professionals invited for the crucial match, a game that could decide the fate of under-fire manager Stephen Keshi.
Allnigeriasoccer can also confirm reports in the French Media led by L'Equipe that the Nigeria international did undergo tests with Marseille in August despite the media campaign embarked by Uzoenyi and his representatives, denying that he did not train with the 1993 European champions.
Our impeccable source in France who was privy to the the trials of the Enugu Rangers ace at Marseille claims the door remains open for Uzoenyi to move to the French powerhouse, as negotiations are ongoing with the club's hierarchy.
Uzoenyi had previously tested with Esperance(Tunisia), Tromso(Norway) and Panionios (Greece) but was not offered a contract by the foreign clubs.
France could be the future destination of Super Eagles players plying their trade in the local league. A lot of French clubs are keeping tabs on their performances with the Nigeria selection.
Juwon Oshaniwa was on the radar of at least two Ligue 1 clubs before he was poached by MS Ashdod but the former Sharks defender did not fancy undergoing trials before being offered a contract.
