Why Falconets Failed At Japan - Women League Boss
Published: September 12, 2012Vice Chairman Nigeria Women League Board, Debo Adeoye has placed the lackluster performance of the Nigerian Under-20 female team at the just concluded FIFA U-20 World Cup hosted by Japan at the doorstep of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Adeoye in an interview granted to newsmen in Ibadan attributed the Falconets’ failure to the President of NFF, Aminu Maigari and his cohorts, claiming they are the people working to killed women football in Nigeria by deliberately shortchanging women football.
He however, called on the Presidency to set up a probe panel to investigate how the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Alhaji Aminu Maigari squandered a huge amount of money left by Alhaji Suni Lulu led Board and the annual subvention from the Federal Government of Nigeria, fund from FIFA for the development of women football in Nigeria plus Fund from FIFA for qualified nations for Women World Cup.
People are complaining of fielding over aged and recycling of players in all our female national teams without the football authority in the country doing nothing.
“What Maigari led board had done to improve the domestic league in Nigeria which is producing the players” Adeoye queried. He added that “no financial support, no moral support, no driving force, no motivation and international exposure for the league handlers”.
“It is silly and barbaric seeing those who have not and cannot add any value to women football on the list of people traveling abroad with the female national teams”.
“It is difficult to accept that Maigari could still be involved in this act against women football that is the only hope of football fans
in Nigeria just as Paralympics turned the hope of over 150 million Nigerians after Team Nigeria’s disgraceful outing at the London Olympics last month”.
“He ignored and called bluff of women football owners/handlers and keeps giving what belong to them to those who see nothing good in women football but only to condemn club owners. Maigari keeps giving Aishat Falode first class ticket at the expense of club owners. Here is a woman that keeps insulting people spending money on women football and also condemning the league; ironically she is enjoying our sweat while we are relegated to the background.”
“Let there be immediate action against politicians parading themselves as sports administrators, to be able to curb corruption and drive away the intruders in-charge of sports in Nigeria today, this will stop re-occurrence of London Olympic show of shame and Women football woe”, he concluded.
