PHILIIP CHIDI ONYEMAH Welcomes KAITA To Olympiakos Nicosia
Published: September 06, 2012Former Rio Ave of Portugal attacker, Philip Chidi Onyemah (Phenomenon) has stated delifght with the prospects of ex-Sparta Rotterdam of Holland midfiedler, Sani Kaita joining forces with him at Olympiakos Nicosia of Cyprus.
Just as news emerged from the international mill that Kaita is set to revive his career with another move, following previous stillborn stints in Russia, Greece and Ukraine, Oyemah says having another Nigerian as a teammate would encourage him to give his best.
Just as it was when Kaita joined another Nigerian defender, Abraham Alechenu for a shirtlived spell at Iraklis of Greece, allnigeriasoccer.com can report that he is arriving at Nicosia at a time the club are battling to pay a catalogue of salaries owed their players.
“Things have not really been that reasy for us in terms of financial conditions over here,” Onyemah admitted. “That’s one of the reasons why I will really appreciate Kaita’s presence; because that would me getting a fellow-Nigerian with whom I can share my thoughts and plans,” said the lad who is married to a Portuguese lady, Katia.
Onyemah has equally faced a chequered career, having passed through thick and thin with four Portuguese clubs- Fornos De Algodres, FC Porto Juniors, FC Farmalicao and Rio Ave – after an initial year’s hiatus in Spain, when his transfer certificate was seized by the then Nigeria Football Association, during the days of Kashimawo Laloko as technical controller.
