Turkish Agent HASAN EGILMEZ : Players Attending Trials Abroad Is Bad Image For The NPL
Published: September 04, 2012
Last month, Jude Aneke agreed a three - year contract with Egyptian club Al-Masry Sporting Club after snubbing the overtures of Africa's finest Al Ahly SC who had insisted that the former Warri Wolves forward must be tested before a contract offer.
Renowned Turkish agent Hasan Egilmez brokered the deal which took Aneke, the record goalscorer in the history of the Nigeria Premier League, to Al Masry.
The 35- year -old is very disappointed that European clubs and some African teams invite footballers in the local league for trials before making a transfer decision.
'' Players attending trials abroad is bad for the image of the local league. And that is why many clubs and agents are not respecting these players. Telling a player to come for trials abroad is a big chance for him to get a contract with improved wages. On the flip side, if the player is rejected this can make him lose self confidence. That is why we declined Al Ahly's request to test Jude Aneke. I can understand if big teams like Manchester United and AC Milan want to test Aneke but not normal teams,'' Egilmez told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Jude Aneke was famously linked with AS Roma, Rubin Kazan, Amkar Perm, Partizan Belgrade, Red Star Belgrade and Bursaspor before signing the dotted lines with Al Masry.
The one - cap Nigeria - international was on the brink of joining a club in Russia, Hasan Egilmez, who spoke glowingly of the local league, has revealed.
''The quality of the Nigeria Premier League is very high, even better than some leagues in Europe. They only need to work on their organization and the wages paid to footballers. It is very difficult for players to score goals with ease in the NPL. The big players in Nigeria should be patient and avoid jumping at every opportunity for trials abroad. Aneke would have joined a Russian club but he was not granted a visa. Visas are the biggest enemies sometimes,'' he said.
