Exclusive: NOSA IGIEBOR Demands Betis Improved Wages
Published: August 19, 2012
So far, Real Betis have failed in their attempts to get the signature of the standout player in Nigeria's Olympic National Team Nosa Igiebor.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that negotiations for the attacking midfielder have completely stalled after his agent Atta Aneke on his client's advice asked the Andalusian outfit to increase their financial offer. This is contrary to trending reports that Norwegian - Nigerian agent Atta Aneke is the problem in the negotiation process.
Apart from Atta Aneke, the recognized agent of the Hapoel Tel Aviv player, there were three other intermediaries that were involved in transfer talks.
Discussions for the transfer of Nosa Igiebor to Spain were started by Guy Primor, a former skipper of Israel's youth team who is now a players' agent. He is the representative of Hapoel Be'er Sheva's Nigeria goalkeeper Austin Ejide.
Guy Primor was involved in the transfer of Igiebor from Lillestrom, Norway to his present club Hapoel Tel Aviv. He proposed the one time Warri Wolves ace to the Israeli club. Two summers ago, Hapoel had been looking for a reinforcement in midfield and had plans to travel to Norway to watch the in-form Nosa Igiebor in action before making a decision on his transfer.
It was on the recommendations of Primor that made Hapoel bypass their scouting policy to sign the player. Not necessarily Nosa Igiebor's agent, but Primor, who has a lot of influence in Israel, advises the Super Eagles fringe player in his homeland.
The second intermediary that was involved in negotiations is another influential agent Ronen Katzav of Top Sport Services. Amongst his many clients include Israel skipper Yosef Shai Benayoun, Hertha Berlin's Ben Sahar and the Hapoel Tel Aviv forward of Nigeria heritage Toto Tamuz. Katzav is understood to have traveled to Spain to negotiate one - on - one with Real Betis President Miguel Guillén, who is personally involved with the transfer of players to the club.
About three weeks ago, an agreement was reached between Betis and Hapoel for the transfer of Nosa Igiebor for a reported fee of 1.2 million euros. However, Betis failed to agree personal terms with Igiebor as he frowned at the wages offered him by the Spanish club; only an increase of €20, 000 of what he is currently earning at Hapoel. He then contacted his primary agent Atta Aneke to fight his cause, demanding for the club to pay him his true worth.
It is unclear the real intentions of Real Betis. Why are they interested in signing a player, and offering him a 'paltry' €180,000 euros as annual wages? Unacceptable and strange! On face-value, it means Betis only want to purchase Nosa Igiebor for their Reserve Team.
It would be recalled that three months ago CD Atlético Baleares midfielder Raheem Lawal was courted by Real Betis. Though this has been denied by the club president, Miguel Guillén. According to allnigeriasoccer.com's impeccable sources in Spain, Betis were willing to offer Lawal, a third division player in Spain, an annual salary of €300,000. But the transfer did not see the light of day following Lawal's documented disciplinary problems and Atlético Baleares insisting that they are not interested in a loan deal for the player as they wanted to sell him outright to an interested club.
With less than 13 days to the close of the summer transfer market, Betis, whose primary goal before the close of the window is an addition in midfield, must increase their offer to Nosa Igiebor if they are really interested in the player. Other clubs in Spain, Russia and Holland are also monitoring the situation of Igiebor, and they could snatch him from right under the noses of Real Betis.
