JOHN IBEH Hopes To Continue Impressive Form
Published: August 03, 2012
Pandurii Târgu Jiu top the standings after match day two in the Romanian championship, with a maximum six points from their first two games. The club from Gorj County welcome CeahlÄul Piatra Neamt to the Tudor Vladimirescu Stadium on Friday evening.
John Ibeh, primarily a midfielder, is the second highest goalscorer in the league. On the opening day, Ibeh notched a brace, and was also on target in the last round of matches.
The 26 - year - old who played in the Champions League last season for Oţelul Galaţi has attributed his rich scoring form to coach Petre Grigora's formation which has given him freedom to express himself.
'' The coach is concentrating on attacking football now. We play a 4-3-3 formation, and I am now operating from the left side of attack. Perhaps that is why the goals are flowing. If I can remain injury free, I hope to achieve my target of 10 goals before the league goes on winter break,'' Ibeh told allnigeriasoccer.com.
He added: '' We trained very hard in pre-season. I am not surprised we have won our first two games. The atmosphere in this club is brilliant, and that is why I decided to extend my contract at the end of last season.''
John Ibeh has more than 60 games under his belt since his arrival in Romania five years ago. He snubbed advances from teams in Denmark and the Middle East in the summer transfer market, choosing to continue his adventure with Pandurii Târgu Jiu.
