UGO UKAH, OKACHI Complain About Racism In Poland
Published: May 29, 2012Interviewed about racism in Poland, one of the hosts for this summer's European Championship, one-cap Nigeria international Ugochukwu Ukah has complained about his maltreatment because of his color.
Speaking on BBC Panorama, Ukah complained about the atmosphere at Polish stadiums saying he was often called monkey.
Former teammate Princewill Okachi, who arrived Widzew Lodz from Malta at the beginning of the 2011 - 2012 season, concurs with Ukah's statement.
Okachi said: ''The only person I can report to (when I am racially insulted, ed) is the referee, and he is not going to do anything about it.He just says ''keep playing''.''
It is being reported that the Polish authorities are unhappy with the programme aired on the BBC, and have asked for an apology from the television station. If Ukah was racially abused, how come he spent five seasons in Poland?, they asked.
Europe's governing body of football, UEFA, has zero tolerance for racism.
