Eagles Have Landed In Peru, EKIGHO EHIOSUN Talks Tough
Published: May 22, 2012
Contrary to reports in the local media, the Peruvian National Team which faces the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly on Wednesday has some foreign based professional players available for selection.
This information has been revealed to allnigeriasoccer.com by our man in Lima, one of Peru's most respected football journalists, Víctor Zaferson Mendoza.
''Peru coach Sergio Markarián worked on Monday with 18 players at Videna (Villa Deportiva Nacional) in Lima. Claudio Pizarro, Peru's captain, trained without problems. Pizarro will play a few minutes. He doesn't know if he begins the match or will be on the bench. Also, Paolo Guerrero and Jefferson Farfán will play some minutes too,'' says Víctor Zaferson Mendoza to allnigeriasoccer.com.
He continued: ''Carlos Zambrano (Saint Pauli), Juan Manuel Vargas (Fiorentina), Rinaldo Cruzado (Chievo Verona) and Renzo Sheput (Sporting Cristal) are injured and they won't play against Nigeria.''
Sergio Markarian has admitted that he will give the local players in his team a chance against Nigeria.
"Against Nigeria, I will play different players. I want to see new players. I have a different idea against Colombia,'' Markarian said in a press conference after training on Monday.
Nigeria arrived the Jorge Chavez Airport in the Peruvian capital, Lima from Madrid on Monday. The Eagles are psyched for Wednesday's game, which Coach Stephen Keshi is using to test his strategies ahead of vital World Cup and Afcon qualifiers in June.
Samsunspor forward, Ekigho Ehiosun spoke on Cable Magico Deportes, a Peruvian cable television network on his expectations.
''We are new players. We want to show our abilities and our own style. We are young. We came here because we want to win the match. This is a big opportunity for us,'' said Ehiosun.
On arrival in Peru, the Nigeria delegation went straight to their hotel, the five star Sheraton Hotel, Lima -a hotel which has 438 luxurious rooms, including 21 suites and three exclusive Towers floors.
