U20 midfielders' accurate passes: Crystal Palace loanee eyeing Super Eagles ranks 5th worldwide
Published: March 23, 2025
History-making Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh, the youngest player to feature for the Eagles in the Premier League, has been ranked fifth among U20 midfielders for highest percent of accurate passes across 65 leagues worldwide.
According to the International Centre for Sports Studies, only FC Nordsjælland's Caleb Yirenkyi (93.9 percent), Paris Saint-Germain's Warren Zaïre-Emery (92.4 percent), Brøndby's Noah Nartey (91.4 percent) and Frosinone's Isak Vural (90.6 percent) have better passing accuracy than David Ozoh, who was born in 2005.
Ozoh was loaned out to Championship outfit Derby County for the entirety of the season last summer but has not figured for the Rams for approximately one month after suffering a season-ending injury.
The Crystal Palace academy graduate recorded a 90.3 percent pass completion rate before being ruled out of action until next season.
Born in Valencia, Ozoh is eligible to play international football for his native Spain, England, where he grew up, as well as Nigeria, where his father originally hails from.
The 19-year-old is open to playing for Nigeria but revealed two years ago that he had not yet been contacted by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Ozoh has played 25 first team games, 13 of them for Crystal Palace, the club that gave him his Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup debuts.
Completing the top ten accurate passers among U20 midfielders are Reims' Valentin Atangana Edo (90 percent), CF Monterrey's Iker Fimbres (89.9 percent), Tottenham Hotspur's Lucas Bergvall (89.8 percent), Tijuana's Gilberto Mora (89.8 percent) and AZ Alkmaar's Enoch Mastoras (89.6 percent).
