'Only those who have the courage to shoot can miss' - Samuel Eto'o shows solidarity with Lookman

Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o has taken to social media to express his opinion regarding the controversy over the penalty missed by Ademola Lookman during the second half of Atalanta's 3-1 loss to Club Brugge in a Champions League playoff tie at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday, February 18.
The penalty miss was one of the major talking points after the game with fans and manager Gian Piero Gasperini
heavily criticizing the reigning African Footballer of the Year.
The following day, the Nigerian international accused his coach of being disrespectful, leading the club to convene an emergency meeting to resolve the public feud.
In a powerful message on his official Instagram account, Samuel Eto'o, President of the Cameroon Football Federation, expressed his unconditional support for Lookman, calling him a 'champion' and assuring that he deserves respect and recognition, no matter the circumstances.
"My young brother, memory in football lasts 90 minutes, the time of a match, and then it's on to the next," Eto'o stated.
"For us, you are and will always be our champion. Only those who have the courage to take the shot can miss. Thank you for your courage, great champion."
The 27-year-old Lookman played a key role for Atalanta in last year's Europa League triumph with his sensational performance in the final, scoring a historic hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite having a contract until June 30, 2026, Lookman has decided to leave Atalanta at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
