Super Eagles target Ethan Nwaneri has been recognized for his impressive performance in the latest round of matches played in the Premier League, with football statistics website Whoscored naming the Arsenal forward in its Team of the Week for game week 25.
The England U19 international bagged his first senior assist as Arsenal registered a hard-fought 2-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
Super-sub Mikel Merino broke the deadlock with nine minutes remaining, planting a header into the net following a cross from the right by Nwaneri.
The 17-year-old completed more successful dribbles (7) than any other Premier League player this past weekend.
With a rating of 9.69, Nwaneri was deployed as a right-sided midfielder in the Team of the Week.
Joining him in midfield are Ryan Christie (Bournemouth), Carlos Alcaraz (Everton) and Omar Marmoush (Manchester City).
Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario starts in goal with a back four of Brighton's Yankuba Minteh, Southampton's Jan Bednarek, Manchester United's Matthijs de Ligt and Djed Spence (Tottenham).
Thanks to his match-winning brace against Leicester City, Arsenal's makeshift center forward Mikel Merino has been named in attack alongside Everton striker Beto.
This season, Nwaneri has appeared in twenty-four matches across all competitions, including fifteen in the Premier League, and has eight goal involvements (7 goals, 1 assist) to his name.
Nigeria internationals Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo made starts for their respective clubs in the 25th round of matches but have not cracked the Premier League Team of the Week.
