Atalanta continue to monitor the fitness of Lookman ahead of Champions League clash v Club Brugge
Published: February 16, 2025
Ademola Lookman will undergo a late fitness test before Atalanta's Champions League meeting with Belgian opponents Club Brugge at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has not figured for the Nerazzurri since he aggravated a knee injury during a training session before the Champions League clash against Barcelona.
He has been unavailable for selection since damaging the distal insertion of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee, missing six straight matches, including Saturday's goalless draw with Cagliari.
According to reports in the Italian media, Lookman is making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury, with the number 11 completing his fourth day in a row of partial training with his teammates at the Zingonia sports centre.
However, manager Gian Piero Gasperini was not overly optimistic regarding Lookman's chances of being included in the gameday squad to face Club Brugge.
In quotes relayed by Quotidiano Sportivo, he said: "At the moment Kolasinac is more likely to recover than Lookman for Tuesday".
Atalanta’s form has dipped noticeably in the absence of their key forward, with only one victory from their previous six matches in all competitions.
