'That's why the 10 teams came up' - Former Chelsea striker expects Rangers to cash in on Dessers

Former Chelsea striker Billy Dodds expects Scottish giants Rangers to cash in on Cyriel Dessers at the end of the season.

The Nigerian forward had been linked with a move away from Ibrox in the January transfer window, but ultimately remained with the club.

Dessers' agent had revealed that 10 teams had expressed interest in signing the 30-year-old, but Rangers opted to keep him until the end of the campaign.

The decision was likely influenced by the recent struggles of other strikers at the club, including Hamza Igamane and Danilo, who has been dealing with fitness issues.

Billy Dodds believes that Dessers' situation is worth monitoring, given the club's financial situation.

Dodds believes that Rangers could still sell Dessers for a decent fee, given that the Nigerian international is now in top form and has regained his place in the starting lineup.

"I think he's one Rangers player, because you always talk about the finances at the club, who would command a fair fee," said the former Dundee caretaker boss on the Go Radio Football Show as quoted by Ibrox News

"I think Rangers were probably sussing out the market, and I know his agent was as well. That's why the 10 teams came up."

Despite a poor start to the season, the Nigerian international's form has been a welcome boost to Rangers, who have been struggling to find consistency in their attacking play.

Rangers' decision to keep Dessers until the end of the campaign could prove to be a shrewd move, as the striker has returned to form in recent matches.

Dessers' confidence and performances have been impressive, and he will be a key player for Rangers in the coming months.
