'Osayi is my friend' - Osimhen reacts to rumours of urging Nigeria teammate to join Galatasaray
Published: January 05, 2025
Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen has broken his silence on rumours in the media suggesting that he attempted to persuade his Super Eagles teammate Bright Osayi-Samuel to make a move to the Galatasaray.
The future of Osayi-Samuel has dominated the back pages in Turkey and Nigeria as his contract with Fenerbahce expires at the end of the season and he can sign a preliminary contract with one of his suitors in the January transfer window.
Although he remains a key player for the team, the Nigerian defender has yet to reach an agreement with Fenerbahçe on a contract extension, fueling speculation about a potential exit.
Apart from Fenerbahce's bitter rivals Galatasaray, Osayi-Samuel has also been linked with possible moves to clubs in England and France.
The Blackpool academy product was spotted in the stands watching Crystal Palace's Premier League clash with Arsenal on December 21, amid speculation linking him with a winter move to the Eagles.
A few days ago, Galatasaray insider Nevzat Dindar revealed that the Turkish Super Lig champions were not interested in signing the Super Eagles fullback.
Osimhen has confirmed that he did not speak to Osayi-Samuel regarding a potential transfer to Galatasaray.
When asked whether he had spoken to his compatriot Osayi Samuel about Galatasaray, he was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com: "Osayi is my friend. We talk but not about this issue".
Osayi-Samuel has seven goals and fourteen assists in 157 appearances for the Yellow Canaries since joining from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021.
