Sell or keep Lookman? Atalanta chief makes January transfer window decision on African POTY

Atalanta Sporting Director Tony D'Amico has revealed that the club will aim to retain their top players during the January transfer window.

Newly crowned African Men's Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, and Brazilian midfielder Ederson are among the club's players being linked with moves.

Lookman has drawn interest from the Premier League, while Paris Saint-Germain may reignite their pursuit of him as a potential replacement for Randal Kolo Muani, whom the French club is reportedly ready to offload.

Lookman has been in sensational form for Atalanta this season, spearheading the club’s push for their first-ever Serie A title, contributing nine goals and five assists in 15 games.

On Saturday night, Lookman played a crucial role in preventing Gian Piero Gasperini's side from suffering their fourth league loss of the season.

In a 1-1 draw against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, he displayed his selflessness by setting up Marco Brescianini for the equalizing goal two minutes before stoppage time.

It is no surprise that the Nerazzurri are determined to keep the Super Eagles star beyond the January transfer period.

When asked by Sky Sport Italia about the likelihood of losing their sought-after players, Lookman and Ederson, in the January transfer window, D’Amico responded : "Certainly, the January transfer window is a difficult one for all clubs. If there are any opportunities, we will go for them, but obviously maintaining the full squad that we currently have at our disposal."

Lookman tried to force a move away from Atalanta last summer, but he is unlikely to do so in the upcoming transfer window, given his opportunities to win more silverware with the Italian side.
