'If I were Barcelona' - Ex-Besiktas forward urges La Liga giants to acquire N121b-rated Osimhen
Published: December 29, 2024
Former Besiktas forward Okan Koç has shared his thoughts on Victor Osimhen's future, expressing his desire to see La Liga giants Barcelona sign the former African Footballer of the Year in the upcoming transfer windows.
The future of the Napoli-owned striker is once again the subject of speculation at home an abroad because the deal taking him to Galatasaray in September has a break clause.
With a release clause of €75 million (about ₦121 billion in Nigerian currency) in his contract, Osimhen could leave Galatasaray next month, provided they receive compensation.
The 26-year-old is back in the shop window, thanks to his excellent form for the Turkish Super Lig champions, having directly participated in 17 goals in fifteen outings across all competitions.
A move in the January transfer window is unlikely to happen as Osimhen has repeatedly stated that he wants to see out his contract at Galatasaray.
In reality, rumours of the Nigeria national teamer potentially joining Galatasaray on a full deal are wide of the mark, given that the Istanbul club lack the financial muscle to pull off the deal, in addition to the fact that the Süper Lig giants don't match his status.
With Robert Lewandowski nearing the twilight of his career at 36, Barcelona are actively looking at the transfer market for possible successors.
A Spor commentator Okan Koç was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com: "If I were Barcelona , I would buy Osimhen tomorrow.
"If important clubs in Europe pay 75 million euros, the players want to leave, but if Osimhen stays, it means there was not enough demand from there".
Premier League sie Chelsea retain an interest in Osimhen after failing to agree personal terms with the center forward in the summer transfer window.
