Lazio coach gets advice from ex-Italy midfielder on how to utilize Dele-Bashiru against Atalanta
Published: December 24, 2024
Former Italy midfielder Roberto Rambaudi has provided insight into how Lazio coach Marco Baroni could utilize Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in their upcoming Serie A clash against Atalanta.
Dele-Bashiru, who joined Lazio from Hatayspor in the summer, has faced challenges in adapting to Serie A.
Despite his limited appearances in the league, where he has logged 343 minutes and scored once in eight matches, he has shown a more impactful presence in the UEFA Europa League.
The 23-year-old has amassed 304 minutes in European competition, scoring twice and contributing two assists across four games.
Though Dele-Bashiru has struggled to secure a starting spot in Serie A, he has featured in three of Lazio's last four league fixtures, although he was an unused substitute in their victory over Lecce at the weekend.
Having been given ample rest, Rambaudi believes the time is ripe for Dele-Bashiru to play a key role against Atalanta, offering the squad much-needed energy and freshness.
Rambaudi, analyzing the upcoming fixture on Radiosei, emphasized the significance of the match in shaping Lazio's season.
"The match against Atalanta will tell a lot from the point of view of nervous energy. These two matches direct your season. However, it is a delicate challenge also for Atalanta , the top of the table is worth it," Rambaudi said to SVB, via Radiosei.
Rambaudi also suggested that Baroni should consider deploying Dele-Bashiru in a more dynamic role.
"I see more Tchaouna than Isaksen from the 1st minute in this match: he has more physicality and more running.
"The insertions of the three-quarters will make the difference; in the three-quarters I would prepare the match. And I would play Dele-Bashiru," Rambaudi added.
Lazio's next match against Atalanta is expected to be pivotal as both teams look to solidify their positions in the league, making this a crucial opportunity for Dele-Bashiru to stake his claim as a starter in Serie A.
