'They cannot' - Former Galatasaray coach insists it's impossible for Turkish champions to buy Osimhen
Published: December 24, 2024
Former Galatasaray coach Hamza Hamzaoğlu has insisted that the Turkish giants cannot afford to buy Victor Osimhen.
Reports of The Lion pursuing a permanent move for the Nigerian striker have refused to go away as he keeps blossoming in the colours of the club.
The 25-year-old was magnificent once again last weekend, in the Trendyol Süper Lig fixture away at Kayserispor, scoring a brace to help Okan Buruk’s side to a 5-1 victory over the home side.
He opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half to net his second spot kick in the Süper Lig this season before going on to add another in the second half.
His success has fueled persistent reports suggesting that Galatasaray will pursue a permanent deal for him, with claims that the Turkish giants plan to secure sponsors to facilitate the move.
Hamzaoğlu has suggested that the Istanbul-based team would face significant financial hurdles in their bid to sign Osimhen on a permanent basis.
"It is difficult for Galatasaray to buy Victor Osimhen . In fact, I can say that they cannot," Hamza Hamzaoğlu was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com.
"I heard that there are suitors for Osimhen. Galatasaray can go up to a certain point in the figures, but after that it may cause problems.
"Financial situations need to be considered. However, if he stays, he will continue to benefit.”
Osimhen will reportedly cost €75 million, and Galatasaray do not have the financial history of buying a player as expensive as him.
The club's record signing is Gabriel Sara, who was bought for €18 million, which is miles away from Osimhen's valuation.
