'He reminds me of Lukaku' - Ex-Everton forward likens Nigerian U23 star David to Napoli striker
Published: December 13, 2024
Former Everton forward Kevin Mirallas has shared his admiration for Nigeria U23 international Promise David, drawing a comparison with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.
David, who had a slow start to the season, has steadily found his form at his Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, scoring four goals in twelve league appearances.
His potential and growth have not gone unnoticed, and Mirallas, in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad via walfoot, discussed what sets the young forward apart from others.
"If he converted all his chances, he would be top scorer," Mirallas stated, highlighting David's ability to create opportunities.
The Belgian also pointed to David's mental resilience as a key factor in his development
"What makes him unique is that he doesn't feel the pressure. He can go from bad matches to scoring a double three days later."
Mirallas, who has experience playing alongside top-tier talent, drew a striking comparison between David and Lukaku, a player he knows well.
"He reminds me of Romelu Lukaku. He is not yet aware of his strength, his speed and his qualities. If he takes this step... we all know what Lukaku has accomplished."
With his blend of physicality, skill, and mental fortitude, Promise David is quickly becoming one of the most promising young talents in Belgian football.
