'He's like Ronaldo' - Ex-Besiktas forward compares Osimhen to former Manchester United superstar
Published: December 09, 2024
Former Beşiktaş forward Nihat Kahveci has compared Victor Osimhen to Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
This follows the performance of the Super Eagles striker in Galatasaray's dramatic 3-2 win over Sivasspor in the Trendyol Süper Lig fixture played at the New Sivas 4 Eylül Stadium yesterday.
Galatasaray had a player sent off early on in the game and conceded first but Yunus Akgün put them back on level terms after Sivasspor goalkeeper Djordje Nikolic allowed his shot to slip through his fingers into the net.
Osimhen would put the Lion ahead late into the first-half stoppage-time. He was brought down by Nikolic and he stepped up to take the spot-kick and fired the ball voraciously into the top corner.
Barış Alper Yılmaz gave Galatasaray a two-goal lead before the hour mark but Turac Boke pulled one back for Sivasspor late on in the second half stoppage-time.
Osimhen's performance was once again one of the talking points from the game, taking his goal tally to seven in the Süper Lig with the penalty kick he converted.
Speaking on Kontraspor's YouTube channel via Haber Global, Kahveci drew a comparison between him and Ronaldo, citing one of his brilliant moments against Sivasspor to support his point.
"He's like Cristiano (Ronaldo). I thought I was fast when I was running with him. There's a sports button in cars, Osimhen is the same. He stretched very well, another centre forward couldn't easily reach that ball."
The 25-year-old picked up an injury in the game and was replaced by Victor Nelsson in the 74th minute.
