Super Eagles watch: Injuries force Ndidi and Osimhen off; Moses Simon scores stunning winner for Nantes
Published: December 08, 2024
Galatasaray are sweating on the fitness of their star striker Victor Osimhen before the Europa League clash against Malmo, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Napoli loanee was on target as Galatasaray secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over Sivasspor in a Turkish Super Lig clash on Sunday but could not continue the game and was replaced in the 74th minute by Victor Nelsson due to injury.
With 10 goals and 5 assists in 13 matches this season, the reigning African Footballer of the Year has played a pivotal role in Galatasaray's success this season.
Elsewhere, Wilfred Ndidi was forced off injured early in the second half as Leicester City came from two goals down to earn a dramatic draw against Brighton & Hove at the King Power Stadium, thanks to late goals from Jamie Vardy and Bobby De Cordova-Reid.
The Super Eagles midfielder was replaced by Oliver Skipp in the 52nd minute after being on the losing end of a challenge with Joao Pedro.
Foxes boss Ruud van Nistelrooy confirmed after the game that Ndidi was substituted because he felt a small strain in his hamstring.
In the French top flight, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon scored a stunning goal in the 89th minute to secure three points for Nantes in a 1-0 victory over Rennes at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
Simon weaved his way past three Rennes players before curling a right-footed shot into the top corner.
Thanks to Simon's brilliant strike, the Canaries secured their first victory since August 31, ending a ten-game winless streak that included four draws and six losses.
