Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen continued to demonstrate his goal-scoring prowess for Galatasaray, netting in a dramatic 3-2 victory against Sivasspor at the Sivas 4 Eylul Stadium.
The match took an early turn for Galatasaray when defender Metehan Baltacı was sent off in the fifteenth minute after a VAR review overturned the referee's initial yellow card decision, leaving the team with ten men.
Sivasspor capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Garry Rodrigues finding the back of the net in the 25th minute, putting the home side in front.
However, Galatasaray responded swiftly. Just eleven minutes later, Yunus Akgün equalized with a well-placed shot, bringing the score to 1-1.
The turning point came when Osimhen was brought down in the penalty area, earning his team a penalty just before the end of the first half.
Osimhen took responsibility and confidently converted the spot-kick to put Galatasaray ahead 2-1.
According to Opta, the Nigeria international became the first Galatasaray player to score or assist in eight of his first nine Super League games since 2014/15.
The second half saw Barış Yılmaz extend the lead in the 53rd minute, receiving a brilliant pass from Akgün before dribbling past a defender and scoring with a powerful effort into the far corner.
However, Osimhen's day came to an end in the 74th minute when he was substituted for Victor Nelsson.
Despite Galatasaray's efforts to maintain their lead, Sivasspor's Bekir Böke pulled one back in stoppage time, finishing from a layoff by Sonko Sundberg.
With this performance, Osimhen marked his tenth goal of the season for Galatasaray, having made a significant impact since his loan move from Napoli.
Across all competitions, he has contributed 15 goals (10 goals and 5 assists) in just 13 appearances.
Despite expressing desire to stay in Istanbul, speculations continues to surround his future due to his impressive displays.
