The incredible stat behind Osimhen's unstoppable first goal in Galatasaray's win against Samsunspor
Published: November 12, 2024An incredible stat has been revealed about Victor Osimhen's first goal in Galatasaray's 3-2 win over Samsunspor in the Trendyol Süper Lig fixture played at RAMS Park on Sunday.
Three minutes into the game, Gabriel Sara exchanged a pass with Dries Mertens, the Belgium forward slipped the ball to Lucas Torreira, who swindled it into the penalty area; it was met by Osimhen, who rose to head the ball incredibly into the back of the net from outside the six-yard box.
According to beIN SPORTS via Kontra spor, the 25-year-old's header travelled at a speed of 71 kilometers before landing into the back of the net.
Osimhen recorded nine shots in the game, which is the most by any player in any fixture in the Süper Lig since the start of the present campaign.
The Napoli loanee scored with another header to get his brace in the fixture and has now scored six goals in the Süper Lig this campaign, two less than Besiktas' Ciro Immobile, the division's leading top scorer.
Having missed the Super Eagles' last 2025 African Cup of Nations qualification game against Libya, the reigning African Men's Player of the Year is back in the squad for the upcoming fixtures with Benin and Rwanda.
