Good news for Eguavoen ahead of Afconq as Osimhen spotted in team training pre-Tottenham
Published: November 05, 2024
Victor Osimhen is seemingly in contention to be named in Galatasaray's gameday squad for the Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, November 7.
The Napoli loanee was spotted in the training images released by the Istanbul giants on Tuesday, an indication that he was able to take part in team training after shaking off a minor injury.
By training with the rest of his teammates at Florya Metin Oktay Facilities, Osimhen has put himself in contention to be involved in some capacity for the blockbuster clash against Tottenham.
The training started with a dynamic warm-up and continued with a 5v1 passing exercise in four groups under the guidance of manager Okan Buruk.
Osimhen's return to group training will be sweet music to the ears of Nigeria's interim boss Augustine Eguavoen as the centre-forward is in his plans for the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin's Cheetahs and Rwanda's Wasps.
Eguavoen had to scratch his name from the list of players invited for the October internationals due to a muscle injury he suffered in the first half of the 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa on September 28.
Osimhen has made a splash since his loan move to Galatasaray, with eight goal involvements in seven all-competition appearances.
There is talk that the Lion are working on signing him on a full deal but the transfer is logically impossible, considering the fact that he has release clause of 75 million euros valid for next summer.
Galatasaray's most expensive signing in history is Gabriel Sara, who joined the Lion from Norwich City in exchange for 18 million euros in the summer window.
