'I'll never betray Fenerbahce' - Osayi-Samuel dismisses links with Yellow Canaries bitter rivals Galatasaray
Published: October 30, 2024Super Eagles fullback Bright Osayi-Samuel has dismissed reports linking him to a potential move to Galatasaray, despite ongoing negotiations over a contract renewal with Fenerbahçe, where his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
The Nigerian defender has been key for Fenerbahçe since joining from Queens Park Rangers in 2021, helping the club secure the Turkish Cup in the 2022–23 season.
Rumours of a transfer began circulating after Osayi-Samuel's agent, Steven Beck, reportedly told Fenerbahçe’s sporting director Mario Branco that Galatasaray offered the defender €2.5 million.
According to sources, Beck used this alleged offer to negotiate a similar increase in salary for Osayi-Samuel at Fenerbahçe, stirring tensions among fans of The Yellow Canaries.
During a meeting with the sporting director Mario Branco, Beck said, "We received an offer from Galatasaray. They offered us 2.5 million Euros. Therefore, we cannot reduce our request."
Osayi-Samuel addressed the speculation directly in a Twitch broadcast via Fanatik, categorically denying any plans to join Fenerbahce's bitter rivals Galatasaray or any other Turkish club.
"I don't know where they come up with these figures. I have never asked for anything," he clarified.
"I will never betray Fenerbahçe, I will never play for another team in Turkey."
The 26-year-old has appeared in eight matches in all competitions for Fenerbahçe under José Mourinho this season, and has provided one assist.
Osayi-Samuel's potential departure could leave a significant gap in Fenerbahçe’s lineup.
The Blackpool academy product has been linked with Norwich City and Ligue 1 duo Lens and Marseille.
